May. 4th, 2018 01:58 pmWednesday I managed a couple hours outside in the yard, I worked mostly in the garden area, trying to clean out the raised beds. Note the use of the word trying. I got three beds rough cleared. I also pulled a shit ton of raspberry suckers from my side of the fence too.
I discovered I have asparagus!! In their own special tub, and they are purple. Finally after all the years of trying, just having them alone in their own space works.
Lots of volunteer plants, which is what is slowing me down, I clear enough to see whats there and now I have to decide if I will pull them out or dig them out and repot them. Waste not want not. Top contenders this year is fennel and cardlon. That damn brussel sprout stalk is still kicking it too. This makes year three for that now.
Thursday I drove to Woodburn to meet up with Ru, we did a plant crawl at three different nursery spots. I found a few things I couldnt live without and she stocked up on tomatoes. I gave her the plants I had gotten for her so far (mostly tomatoes that she can find and hasnt got seed for and some flowers of the same) and finally got her birthday, xmas and anniversary gift to her. Only like 5 months late. sigh. We walked, talked and squeed over plants. Petted nursery cats. Ate cake donuts. In all a good day.
I was exhausted by the time we were done, I had forgotten a hat and being out in direct sunlight for this was not a good choice.
Today, bring the trash bins in from the street, and more yard time. I got stuff to plant... right after I get a bit more done in the garden area.
